We all know that uncomfortable feeling of having dry, chapped lips and the discomfort you can feel in your lips can become all you can think about and you long for something soothing to stop your lips from feeling so sore. What you need is a moisturising essential oil lip balm!

Essential Oil Lip Balm - Soothing and Moisturising Ingredients

Unlike many of the usual lip balms, our Awesome Botanical essential oil lip balms contain moisturising mango butter which provides a deep and intense burst of moisture. The mango butter is combined with cocoa butter which is a natural emollient and can help dry and chapped lips by ensuring that your lips  are soothed and moisturised. The third key ingredient in our essential oil lip balms is beeswax, which is rich in Vitamin A and can help to exfoliate your lips as well as rejuvenating their appearance.

Awesome Botanical soothing and moisturising lip balms are enriched with essential oils and are available in the following flavours: Minty Mayhem, Minty Cocoa, Tangerine and Orange Cocoa

“I can’t put into words how amazing this lip balm is and how much I love it! Smells incredible! Will be ordering more!” (Jess, Orange Cocoa Lip Balm Review)

Exfoliating your Lips before you Soothe and Moisturise with an Essential Oil Lip Balm

Chances are, you probably exfoliate your skin. Perhaps you use one of our popular Whipped Body Scrubs. Exfoliating your lips provides the same benefits as exfoliating the rest of our skin - removing any unwanted dead skin cells. Removing these cells leaves healthy new cells underneath which allows glosses and liners to stay on your lips for longer.

You can easily make your own lip scrub from home by mixing equal parts olive oil and sugar which you can gently rub on your lips. It is recommended that you exfoliate your lips twice a week. Applying an essential oil lip balm after exfoliating will help to enhance effects by soothing and moisturising your lips.

Preventing Chapped Lips with an Essential Oil Lip Balm

If you have chapped lips, an essential oil lip balm can moisturise and soothe your lips, to stop your lips from being dry and sore.

You can also use your Essential Oil Lip Balm to Prevent your Lips from getting Chapped by:

  • Washing your hands before applying your essential oil lip balm to prevent contaminating with impurities from your hands.
  • Having a humidifier in your home can help to improve dry and chapped lips. Unlike the skin around the rest of your body, there are no oil glands in the lips to keep your lips moisturised. As a result of this, when there is limited humidity during the winter or dryness and heat during the summer, your lips can become dry and chapped.
  • Putting your essential oil lip balm on and then covering your mouth with a scarf when going outside during the winter.
  • Drinking plenty of water (around 8 glasses per day). Chapped lips can be a sign of dehydration.
  • Not biting or licking your lips often as any natural oils on your lips will be removed as the saliva evaporates. It is also important that you do not pick at any dryness on your lips. Having an essential oil lip balm on your lips can help by soothing the lips and acting as a reminder not to touch or lick your lips.
  • Always applying your essential oil lip balm before bed, to allow the lip balm to soothe and moisturise your lips during the night.

By taking these steps and regularly applying your essential oil lip balm, you can help to prevent your lips from getting chapped and keep them moisturised.

There is nothing more annoying than having dry, chapped lips. But, our essential oil lip balms include mango butter, cocoa butter and beeswax - ingredients which have been chosen for their ability to help soothe and moisturise your chapped lips. In addition to regularly applying your essential oil lip balm, it is also important to remove the dead skin cells on your lips by exfoliating twice weekly and then applying your lip balm to enhance the effects of exfoliating. Applying an essential oil lip balm can also help to prevent your lips from getting chapped in the first place - I recommend applying your lip balm before venturing outside in the cold and before bed to help with this. Every makeup bag needs an essential oil lip balm to help soothe and moisturise your chapped lips.  Do you have any other tips for helping dry and chapped lips? Let me know in the comments below.
