5 Ways To Practice Self Love on Valentines Day & Beyond

Posted by Natalie Dawson on

Valentine’s Day shouldn’t just be about showing others around us how much we love them. It should also be about giving ourselves some love. We often find that our own self care falls to the bottom of the list but being good to ourselves and nurturing our body, mind and spirit is essential to rejuvenate and revitalise. Here are 5 ways to practice Self Love on Valentines Day & Beyond.

1. Pamper yourself

Taking physical care of yourself in a pampering way makes us feel good. Pampering is a go-to for many people when it comes to their self-care. A small act of indulgence can have the same effect as an extravagant one. Book a blow dry, have a manicure or massage or run yourself a bubble bath with candles and have a long soak. Our Self Care Subscription can be a great monthly reminder to show yourself some self love each and every month, sign up here for your monthly dose of self care.

2. Move your body

Get those happy hormones flying around your body with a little gentle exercise. If you love the outdoors, going for a walk in nature is great and the fresh air will do you wonders too. I absolutely love to get out in the Pennines with the family and of course my awesome dog, its so peaceful, I feel so at peace and relaxed after my weekly walk out there. If walking isn't for you other forms of exercise like yoga will also make you feel good.

3. Reach out to your friends

Spending time with friends can be rejuvenating. Pick up the phone and call a friend you haven’t talked to in a while. Meet up in person and go for a walk together or grab a cup of coffee. Connecting to others might just provide the spark you’ve been missing.

4. Enjoy the little things

Self-care really doesn’t have to be on a grand scale. The tiniest gestures can be the most meaningful. Buy yourself flowers and you’ll get a boost every time you see that beautiful bouquet on your table or desk. Light a candle, snuggle up under a blanket with a cup of tea and read a book, listen to some music or journal. My favourite thing to do is curl up on the sofa on a Sunday afternoon whilst the little one is napping and watch a Netflix.

5. Lose yourself

We often feel pressured to be productive all the time. Being busy is a sign of worth and accomplishment. However, it really doesn’t have to be that way. Just kicking back and doing nothing is important to recharging our batteries. Let yourself have some down time to do something frivolous like binge on your favourite Netflix show, take a nap or just sit and pet your fur baby. You deserve it.

Top 5 Tips to show yourself Self Love on Valentines Day and Beyond

I hope these tips have gave you some ideas of how you choose to practice self love on Valentine’s Day and beyond. Make sure it’s a regular thing. Giving yourself enough time and attention is important so you can be your happy, healthy and best self.
